The Stableyard

The stables have arrived. The stable block is an old Britains Riding stable that was discovered in the loft of a friend of a friend .It was all in pieces and had only part of the roof and that was broken. The stable doors were intact and the bolts still work. Tack room is without any fittings but no matter. A new roof has been made from balsa and covered with the same tiles as I used for the Museum.

The horsebox also came out of the same loft and although we thought it also had missing bits they turned up in the bottom of the box. Water troughs and a wreck of an old tractor were in there too along with a pig sty (complete), The wreck has now been suitably rusted (poster paint) and is now alongside the forge draped in weeds awating repair.

The man with the gun (a redundant Boer) and his dog are after the rats hiding in the hayricks

August 2007 and the yard is undergoing some changes. Some more suitable gates have been found which were crying out to be attached to a wall.

This is just a start. The walls need fixing together as they are only balanced and a coping needs to be created,

Walled Stableyard

Leakey Vale had a visitor over the weekend of 7th July and two new young people joined the family. Thank you very much,Mandy!

Two Shetland ponies and their riders, Jen and Colin, are currently heading through the gate [right of picture above] and plan to ride up to the mill. Young James will close the gate behind them so that the pigs do not get loose and run amok. James will be relieved from gate duty once other half, Stu, has painted some of the MRRC figures I have recently purchased. He can then go back to petting his favourite pony. [you can just see him in the picture above against the fence near the forge]
Off for a gallop
